It is probably safe to say that the Spectacled Eider found by Elian Hijne and Maurice Prins on Texel on 13 January, will become bird of the year!
The amazing Blue-cheeked Bee-eater found by Rutger Rotscheid in the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen on 16 July, was one of the star birds of the year.
Corn Crake, Eurasian Dotterel, Red Phalarope, Little Auk, Long-tailed Jaeger, Gull-billed Tern, European Bee-eater, Red-footed Falcon, Yellow-browed Warbler, Dusky Warbler and Richard's, Tawny, Olive-backed and Red-throated Pipits were among the best species found by myself.
The stunning Common Rock Thrush discovered by Frank Majoor near De Cocksdorp on Texel on 5 May, was one of my birding highlights of the year.
My personal best finds included species like Lesser White-fronted Goose, Ferruginous Duck, Balearic Shearwater, Eurasian Dotterel, Red Phalarope, Sabine's, Baltic and Glaucous Gulls, Eurasian Penduline Tit, Yellow-browed Warbler, Bohemian Waxwing, Common Rosefinch, Richard's and Red-throated Pipits and Little Bunting.
